The series contains 12 individually packaged blocks (17" x 17"), each representing a traditional birthstone. The blocks, either used alone or combined with others, make beautiful wall-hangings, baby quilts, pillows, or Mother's Day quilts featuring the family's birthstones, and more! The featured technique is single-foundation piecing - not your typical paper piecing. Templates are ironed to the right side of the fabric, so no confusion reverse-side piecing. they are easily lifted off so no ripping paper from the back of your quilt, and they reduce fabric waste associated with other paper piecing methods. The patterns are designed for ease of use - they avoid extremely small pieces, they avoid bulky seams, and most have no inset or Y seams or curves. the individual patterns include the following: - full-coded freezer paper template for one (1) birthstone, plus a full-scale paper copy as the "key" - detailed instructions about the technique and tips for each gem block - fabric requirements for each block - fabric requirements for multiple projects (ie 18" x 18" pillow, full-size quilt, wall-hanging) - quilting suggestions.
